Introduction…

Hello, this is Izaskun Gracia Quintana, author and translator, and I have translated Jeton Neziraj’s play “Aventurat e familjes Bosh në Unmikistán” into Basque.

Why is this project important and what does it offer you?

Projects like DoSEL are very important for understanding and reflecting on the situation and problems of minority languages. And in my case, it has been very rewarding to be able to work with the author on the translation process.

What is the text you are translating about and what difficulties does it present?

This play talks about politics and society, and it is very ironic. That is why one of the biggest challenges for me was to bring this irony from Albanian to Basque.

What has been your favorite discovery about the language you translate into target language?

Thanks to the text, I learned what the Xana are. And the Xana are creatures like the sorcerers of the Basque Country, more or less. And for me, it’s very beautiful that two countries which are so different can be brought together through mythology.

Aurkezpena…

Kaixo, Izaskun Gracia Quintana naz, autorea eta itzultzailea, eta Jeton Neziraj-en “Bosh familiaren abenturak Unmikistanen” antzezlana itzuli dut euskarara.

Zergatik da garrantzitsua proiektu hau eta zer eskaintzen dizu?

DoSEL bezalako proiektuak oso garrantzitsuak dira hizkuntza gutxituen egoera eta problematika ezagutzeko, eta horri buruz hausnartzeko. Eta nire kasuan, oso aberasgarria izan da autorearekin batera itzulpen prozesuan lan egin ahal izatea.

Zeri buruzkoa da itzultzen ari zaren testua eta zer zailtasun ditu?

Antzezlan honetan politika eta gizarteari buruz hitz egiten da,  eta oso ironikoa da. Horregatik, niretzat erronka handienetako bat izan da ironia hori albanieratik euskarara ekartzea.

Zein izan da zure aurkikuntzarik gogokoena xede-hizkuntzara itzultzen duzun hizkuntzari buruz?

Testuari esker, Xanak zer diren ikasi dut. Eta Xanak Euskal Herriko sorginak bezalako izakiak dira, gutxi gorabehera.
